The "Of Merrily" kennel has been created at the beginning of the 60 th by Mrs Monique Rufer, breeding american cocker Spaniels. She was very well-known, especially for her particolour american even if she produced numerous champions in all colours. She liked to produce the chocolate colour and chocolate partis. We can find many "Of Merrily" of Monique Rufer's time in many pedigrees of good dogs in France. I started breeding american cockers with a black and white bitch called Extra-Chic Of Merrily. She gained her title of french champion. Later I imported a red and white dog from Melankolian kennel in Finland who produced really well (he gained also his title of French Champion). But today, I have very few american cockers but I was given the job of continuing to breed under this kennel name Monique Rufer offered to me in 2000.
But above all, I am an English Cocker breeder. I have always had English Cockers at home because my parents were and still are breeders themselves (kennel "Des Deux Camélias")
My first Cocker was a red bitch my parents offered to me in 1983, she was called Urphée Des Deux Camélias. I was very lucky to start with such a bitch! She was so gentle, she won numerous prices (competitors were numerous in the 1980 th). She also produced very well.
Later on, I went to live my life and contined to breed cockers under the kennel name "Du Domaine de Makno" together with Mr Alain Renvoisé (between 1990 and 2003), but as we separated, I came back to Normandy where I feel good and breed under 'Of Merrily" .
My wish is to produce very few dogs (litters are occasional), but I want to select my cockers to have them, beautiful, good and in good health.
We live in a small town called Pierreville, at 25 km from Cherbourg, at 5 minutes from a big sandy beach where our cockers love to run and play.
